1. When requisitions for crane reach the wharfage officer not later than 3.30 p.m. on the day previous to the night or day for which cranes are required :-

Note (1) : Cancellation application for the second half of a day in the case of cranes requisitioned for the whole day will be accepted and charges made under Item-I (a) above provided such, applications reach the Wharfage Officer not later than 11.30 a.m. of that day, but no cancellation application for the first half of a day will be accepted except in accordance with 4 (a) above.

Note (2) : The semi Bulk Dry Cargo comprises of Cargo being handled under Incentive Scheme as contained in Compendium of Bye-Laws of the Karachi Dock Labour Board, as amended from time to time.

EXCEPTION

1. Cranes requisitioned by a vessel within 24 hours of its arrival shall be charged under Item-I except cranes requisitioned after 3.00 p.m. for use before the commencement of the following day's work which shall be charged under item-2

2. No penalty or additional charges will be levied in cases where the use of a crane or cranes is discontinued and in lieu thereof another crane or cranes not exceeding the number the use of which is discontinued is or are requisitioned to work in a different position on the same berth.

Note (1) : The working hours for cranes both by day and night are as prescribed in Appendix XV Bye-Law No.16.

(a) In the case of cranes ordered for Night Work unless the cranes are cancelled as specified in item 4 (a) cranage charges and in addition, Night Work Fees will be levied.
(b) In case of cranes ordered for day work, unless the cranes are cancelled as specified in Item 4(a) cranage charges will be levied.

Note (3) : No charge will be made for the use of cranes for adjusting the contents of wagons for direct delivery.

Note (4) : No additional charge will be made if a crane ordered for working lighters containing the cargo of one steamer is used for working lighters containing the cargo of another steamer of the same agency.

Note (5) : Where ships use their own derricks when Port Trust cranes are available, full crane charges will be levied.

Note (6) : Where ships are compelled to use their derrick due to Port Trust Cranes not being available, no charge will be levied.

Note (1) : Heavy Lift Cranes ordered but not used will be subjected to a charge of Rs. 1179.00 per crane.

Note (2) : Where a Crane is cancelled before action has been taken on the requisition, such cancellation may be accepted by the Wharfage Officer at his discretion and in this case no charge will be levied.

Note (3) : Where Private Mobile Crane / Equipment is used due to KPT Heavy Lift Cranes being not available, no charge will be levied.

Note (4) : Where Private Mobile Crane / Equipment is used, when KPT Heavy Lift Cranes are available, full charge under this table will be levied.

Note (5) : Where Private Mobile Crane/Equipment is used for Landing / Loading Containers for inter-wharf movement, when KPT Heavy Lift Cranes are available, KPT Charges will be levied at the rates specified for 30 tones Lift Crane.

Note (6) : Heavy lifts discharge / loaded by Ship board Cranes / Ship board fork lifts via the ramps of the RO/RO vessels, and the containers discharged / loaded with the aid of special ship board equipment on container vessels, will be exempted from payment of heavy lift crane charges.

Note (7) : Only one charge under this item in respect of heavy lifts discharged into barges by the Floating Cranes and landed on wharf by the shore heavy lift crane/floating crane or vice versa shall by payable.

Note (8) : A surcharge or 19% shall be levied on all the above charges for maintaining towing unit or units for the cranes or Barges provided for working in conjuction with the cranes weather used or not, irrespective of the fact whether Floating Crane Charges have been condoned or not.
